A Wholesale Shirt Company is a Great Way for Groups to Get Added Revenue
Today’s economy is tough, so hanging onto any job seems to be a necessity. However, even in tough times we get frustrated with our jobs and think to ourselves, “I could do better myself.” Perhaps you have the right stuff to make a go of it on your own, but many a smart and talented individual has failed due to a lack of planning. Many start off with just the notion that they want to be the boss or own the company. They don’t get much deeper than this power façade and end up making crucial mistakes. One mistake is made right at the beginning of their business endeavor: they quit their jobs before they are ready to create an income from their new business. Another mistake that is made early on is that the new business owner never took stock of themselves and their unique talents and resources. What you already have can determine whether you start a metal machining factory or a wholesale shirt company.
Another decision that has to be made early on is where you see yourself fitting into the chain. Are you detailed oriented and want to create finished products? Are you the organized type that likes to get things from one place to another and don’t really care what it is? Do you like dealing with businesses or customers? All of these questions can help you place yourself in the distribution chain with the best chance of success. If you like the finished product then maybe you should be more on the customer side of the equation. If you like dealing with business instead of individual customers, then maybe the wholesale shirt company would a better fit.
The next set of questions have to do with expectations regarding income. Do you like a steady income or are you comfortable being more project based? Are you patient enough to make a little profit on each item or are you more of the big score type? Each of these revenue stream patterns is different. If you are at the retail end of the chain you can make a little off each sale while if you own the wholesale shirt company you can place a few huge orders and be set for the year, but they may be unevenly spaced out throughout your calendar year.
One of the concepts that has to be dealt with in the previous scenario is the concept of profit margin. Profit margin is how much you get to keep per item sold after you factor in the cost of the materials to you plus all of your labor and overhead costs. The farther up the distribution chain you are toward the retail end, the lower your profit margin per item. Retailers have advertising and store front costs that wholesalers do not. The wholesale shirt company owner may charge far less per shirt, but have a higher profit margin because they don’t have the associated costs.
No matter what, start with yourself when starting a business. You need to know if you are the store front person or more the wholesale shirt company type. Only you can say.
