Button Down Shirts

When most people think of button down shirts, they usually see people in business attire. Well, of course this is true. But that is not the only type of button down shirts you will find. You will find long and short sleeve shirts. They are both seen in business settings, although short sleeve are a little more casual. You can also find button down shirts used in professional sports. You can find them in solid colors or stripes or various other patterns. All button down shirts come in a wide variety of colors.

When buying button down shirts, you want to ask yourself what is the purpose for which you are buying them for? If you plan on buying them for the office, you will want to go with the long sleeve variety. This style says you are a business professional and conduct yourself in that manner. If you wear long sleeve shirts, you do not want to be seen slacking off. This is bad for business. Makes people believe you do not know what you are doing. Short sleeve on the other hand is for more relaxed atmospheres. They are worn a lot at schools, out in public or in the office if there is not a strict dress code.

Button down shirts are also seen in professional sports. Baseball teams and many racing teams will use button down shirts. These shirts will have logos on them and are also used in advertising for a particular company. Usually there is some type of dress code involved in professional sports and all players must follow those guidelines.

Button down shirts come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. In many cases, the long sleeve variety is usually seen with a tie.  Most times the shirt and color are color coordinated. If you get a shirt and tie that does not go well together, people seem to look at you strange. You want to give careful consideration as to the colors you choose.  Long sleeve shirts can also be worn with sweaters or vests. This is clearly an option. It is up the each person as to what they want to wear. When most people wear short sleeve button down shirts, they typically wear the shirts by themselves, with pants of course. Most of the times, they do not try and dress it up with a tie.

When you go out looking for button down shirts, consider what you want them for. What is the reason you are buying them for? Think of the environment you will be in when you are wearing them before you make the decision as to what to buy. Decide on what colors you want to wear. If you are buying long sleeve shirts, decide if you want to wear a tie with them and choose the tie accordingly. Short sleeves are good for the relaxed atmosphere. But in no way are they totally unacceptable for the office environment. Make sure to check with the company guidelines before making your choice.
