Security Uniforms
Like all types of uniforms that you might find for sale there are many different types of security uniforms that are sold as well. There are much tighter controls over the purchasing of these types of uniforms because of what they represent but still there is a lot that is out there in the field of security. Security is big business and so is the manufacture and sale of the uniforms that these employees will wear. The uniforms tend to be built to look professional and to give the employee the most professional look that is possible while still doing their job.
Typical security uniforms will normally start a bit higher than most since at least 50% of security positions have uniforms that wear hats. Most hats are the typical type with very few exceptions. Some are like ball caps and some are like military hats and between the two that’s about it. Going to the other end of the spectrum most security positions also have required footwear and in most cases they are soft sole to keep the feet comfortable during the hours that some security guards are on their feet. Often the color of the shoe will be black and occasionally they will actually be sneakers.
The body of the suit is in the top and pants. The vast majority of security uniforms will be long sleeved. This is for multiple reasons but the most important one is the fact that it just looks more professional and looking professional is really important to the industry. Nine times out of ten they will be button down with two breast pockets. Sometimes the pockets are missing but they are almost always button down. Additionally they require ironing to keep looking crisp and clean. In some cases the cuff folds up and sometimes they do not.
The style of pants varies as greatly as the shirts. Some have stripes down the outside of both legs and sometimes they do not. Either way looks professional. They often have a cuff already built into the bottom of the pant leg making it a bit more difficult to alter if they do not fit in length. Additionally the pants will usually have the four pockets (two front two back). Occasionally security uniforms will also come with a jacket. If it does the shirt might not have the name of the company on it since the jacket will. This is more common in banks and other office buildings where there is air conditioning.
Security uniforms are a pretty popular item amongst vendors that specialize in contained contracts (the only company that can provide the uniform to the employees). Many companies specialize just in these types of exclusive contracts. The majority of security firms will use this exclusivity to assure that no one steals their emblem or look for the purpose of doing no good. Like law enforcement, fire men and other public servant jobs, the faith of the public in the people wearing these uniforms is dependent on making sure they are properly controlled.
