Hospitality Uniforms

The Style and Scope of Hospitality Uniforms

Many businesses have to serve customers for an extended period of time. Hotels, cruises, restaurants, tour agencies, among other enterprises, have to welcome people and tend to their needs over a period of time, rather than simply sell them a product. The staff of a hotel or a cruise ship has to look sharp. At the same time, they sometimes need to look less as if they are in formal business mode, and more as if they are on a par with the people they serve. Hospitality uniforms come in a number of designs so as to give workers the right choice of garments for the occasion.

For many workers in the hospitality field, the business ensemble is the everyday, essential look.  Both men and women can wear this ensemble with style and confidence.  It consists of a white shirt, blue pants, matching jacket, and vest. The men’s version is worn with a tie. The entire staff will dress alike. One key aspect of the dress of hospitality workers is that it should to create a group identity. Employees should also being easy to spot by customers. Hospitality uniforms help to project the image of a unified, sharp, cheerful, and ready to serve staff.

A variation on the business ensemble consists of pants and a blazer in a matching but different color than the pants. On cruise ships it is common to see male employees walking about in such an ensemble. Indeed, they might appear at first sight to be passengers. Of course, any hospitality worker will always wear some kind of identification, however low key. Hospitality uniforms also make room for casual looks.  One such look for workers in the hospitality trade consists of a button down shirt and a pair of chinos. It is hardly uncommon to see women employees dressed this way. Again, the time of day and the area of the facility the employee is assigned to will determine just what clothing is appropriate.

The hospitality industry includes many different kinds of workers. There is the housekeeping staff, for example. They, too, have their own particular garb. Light-weight and loose, it allows them to perform the vital jobs they do. The wait-staff has a few “looks” to don. In the more formal setting of a restaurant dinner, waiters can wear a tuxedo style ensemble.  These hospitality uniforms befit someone interacting with well dressed dinners. These can be black or white. On the other hand, a waiter bringing drinks out to the pool in the middle of the day can sport a light colored tunic shirt.

Custom ordering is available from a good number of manufacturers and clothing stores.  A hospitality enterprise can order its uniforms locally. But they can also look for suppliers from well outside their area. This is possible because stores and manufacturers have taken to the internet.   Opportunities exist for such businesses as cruise ships and catering halls to find excellent quality hospitality uniforms at reasonable prices. Since cheaply made garments will take a financial toll on the buyer, it is wise to check out just what kind of fabric is used in the garments.
