Embroidered Bookmark

Embroidery machines are best things for adding custom images and text to clothing, bags and all other fabric items. Many crafters don’t give attention to this fact that, embroidery machines can also be used to create item itself. Specifically you can create embroidered bookmarks with the help of them for gifts or profit. Embroidered bookmark is the actual crafted piece instead of embroidering on finished piece. Some different steps are involved in the process.

The first step in making embroidered bookmarks is selecting and cutting the base material or fabric to your hoop size. A base fabric is recommended in addition to the stabilizer as there is no finished object on which to embroider. You can also experiment with different fabrics and stitching. Secondly you should select and cut the backing material for your hoop size. You can hoop the stabilizer by using the self adhesive stabilizer, without having to hoop the base material or fabric. While making embroidered bookmark you have to peel away the adhesive paper after hooping the stabilizer. You should place the fabric on the hoop and then start pressing it to the adhesive stabilizer. For securing the position, pin the fabric to the stabilizer. Top stabilizers should be cut and pin water soluble at this time.

After performing the above task, you should place the hoop into the position right after raising the presser foot on the machine. You should select your embroidery pattern to make embroidered bookmark. Allow the loop to center in position on the machine, after lowering the presser foot. To begin stitching, press the go button. Lift the presser foot when the pattern is complete. After that exit the pattern and move the hoop position out. Cut the thread from the needle if it is not automatic. You can also trim strings according to your needs. After that remove the pins as well as water soluble top stabilizer. For the spots that can not be pulled, you can use water and a lint free cloth. Remove the stabilizer or backing material from the fabric as well as hoop from the backing material or stabilizer.

After that you have to cut the machine embroidered bookmark from the fabric. You should be watchful and should not cut the threads or stitches. To thread a string cut a slit or hole. Lastly, you have to apply the fabric glue with your fingers or foam tip. This is optional step but it can prevent you from unraveling. There are some important tips that you should follow while making embroidered bookmark. For some embroidery patterns and fabrics, water soluble top stabilizer is effective. You can experiment with that for all your purposes. Tear away the stabilizer and iron, if you do not use self adhesive. You can pin the backing stabilizers as per manufacturer’s instructions.

You should keep your stitches neat and trim all the excess threads to get the better embroidery bookmark. Remember one important thing that your work should be visible on the front and back side of the bookmark.
