Coaching Apparel
For the coaches in our society the selection of what to wear and not wear is not usually a very hard one. For most they will opt for an outfit that allows them to move around with the team they are coaching and be as comfortable as they are in their respective sport. It will totally depend on what the sport is to figure out what the appropriate coaching apparel should be for the coaches and managers in that sport but it is pretty clear once you know the sport what the coach will most likely be wearing. They kind of go together.
Take for instance baseball coaches. Nine times out of ten the coach for baseball will be wearing a baseball uniform like the team does. On occasion the coach might just wear a tee shirt with the baseball pants instead of the uniform top but in a lot of cases they will wear what the team wears. Basketball coaches tend to wear sweats like their team does as they practice on the court. The coaching apparel for these coaches might vary from sweats to baggy shorts and tee shirts with the name of the team on the front and/or back and always sneakers so they can go up and down the court without falling.
Of course all coaches are given a wide variety of coaching apparel from the team. They will usually have multiple sets of sweat pants and shirts along with shorts and tee shirts. Depending on the sport they will also have team hats. Additionally they will usually wear sweaters; collared polo’s and long sleeved team sponsored shirts. The coach will then have a choice of what they want to wear depending on the occasion. What they wear during practice, games and press conferences are all three different things.
Coaches will tend to wear different coaching apparel for games. For instance hockey and basketball coaches tend to wear suits for the games whereas football and baseball coaches were outfits closer to their teams. The baseball coach will wear a uniform and the football coach will wear usually slacks and a sweat shirt, polo shirt or sweater that has the team name on it. For press conferences most of these coaches will have on at least a team shirt for the time they are in front of the microphones. In many cases they will just keep on what they started the game in.
For practices all bets are off except that whatever they wear will have the name of the team on it. In this case it will depend on the climate of where the practice is to determine what is worn. Coaching apparel indoors where it is air-conditioned might consist more of sweats whereas outdoor practices when it is warmer will probably consist of the team shorts and tee shirts with the teams baseball cap. The coach has the ultimate decision making for what they wear (at least the head coach) so as long as they are within the wider parameters usually set by the league or the team owner they can wear just about anything as long as it has the team name on it.
