Casual Button-Down Shirts

Casual button-down shirts can make a great business shirt depending on the type of business you have, what jobs your employees will be doing, and how you wish to present yourself to your clients. Casual shirts may also have advantages that have to be considered before choosing the casual look.

Unlike the traditional button-down business shirt a casual button-down shirt can be used in a professional setting depending on what type of business you have. If you have a professional setting with suits and ties then a casual button-down shirt would not be the best choice but in offices where the customers do not expect suits and ties then the casual business shirt can be the best choice. If you have a non-office type business such as repair, salons, delivery, or sales then a casual button-down would be ideal. The casualness of the shirts will allow customers or clients to feel more relaxed and familiar with the employees. You would not expect a repairman to wear a three piece suit to do repairs, but you can expect them to wear a casual button-down shirt with work pants and work boots.

What your employees will be doing is something to consider when ordering shirts for your business. If they work in a casual setting then a casual button-down shirt is an option. They can give a professional appearance without being sloppy with more freedom of movement than a constricting traditional shirt. You would not want your employees’ movements to be hampered if they need to work in close spaces such as car engines or under sinks so why pick a shirt that will not aid your employees.  Long sleeves can also be a safety issue and most non-casual shirts have long sleeves, you wouldn’t want a long sleeve to catch on any machinery that can cause physical harm to an employee that could have been avoided with a shorter more casual sleeve.

A more casual appearance in a sales position will allow the customers to relax and feel more of a connection to the sales person. This in turn will increase sales. A repairman entering a client’s house will be welcomed more readily than repairmen in a suit. It’s all about appearances and how it makes the customers feel. A casual shirt can also be used for free advertising. You can print the company logo, name, phone number and website on a casual shirt and when people see them they will remember. This works better than a business card since it is readily seen and a business card is usually kept in a wallet or pocket and only seen when taken out.
